An unprecedented operation marks a milestone in regional cooperation to strengthen dairy genetics and production. A total of 110 Gyr cows were airlifted from Brazil to Ecuador in a historic move aimed at improving genetics and dairy production in tropical areas of the country. Recognized for their adaptability to warm climates and high milk-producing capacity, the introduction of the Gyr breed is strategic for bolstering dairy farming in Ecuador's tropical regions. The operation was conducted by LATAM Cargo through two cargo flights from Campinas, Brazil, to Quito, Ecuador. Originating from farms in Minas Gerais and São Paulo, the cows underwent a strict sanitary and animal welfare protocol, including a quarantine period before transportation. This step is strategic in strengthening dairy production in Ecuador, leveraging the Gyr's potential for high milk production in challenging climatic conditions.
