Hiland Dairy's Tyler Plant Expansion to Boost Milk Production in Texas
Hiland Dairy's Tyler plant in Texas is undergoing a significant expansion that is set to begin operations by April 2026. The expansion project, which is currently 70% complete, involves adding 96,000 square feet to the facility. This includes new automated packaging technology, four additional silos, and a dedicated storage area.
According to Barry Beaman, the General Manager of East Texas Hiland Dairy, the additional capacity will allow the plant to quadruple its milk output, reaching over one million gallons per week. This expansion comes as part of Hiland Dairy's strategy to align with the growing demands of the Texas market.
The expansion project, which costs over $100 million, will also create 80 new jobs in the area. Construction has been ongoing for more than a year since the groundbreaking ceremony. One of the challenges faced during this period has been maintaining current operations while the expansion is underway, as noted by Dairy Plant Manager Patrick Moore.
In addition to the expanded production capabilities, the company plans to build an administrative building to accommodate current and future employees. Beaman emphasized that the investment in the Tyler plant is designed to enhance efficiency, speed up deliveries, and better serve customers.
Hiland Dairy, based in Missouri, is positioning itself to grow alongside the expanding Texas market, preparing for increased demand in the region.
