GDT Index Sees 1.2% Increase, Highest in Two Years

The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) index recorded a 1.2% rise in its latest trading event on Tuesday, October 1, pushing the average price to €3,474 per metric tonne (mt). This marks the highest index figure in two years, standing at 1,164 – the highest since October 4, 2022, when it reached 1,166.
This event marks the second consecutive increase in the index and the ninth rise out of the last 12 GDT events since April 16, indicating continued market strength. A total of 38,848mt of dairy products were sold in 19 bidding rounds, lasting just under three hours. Among 191 participants, 140 emerged as winning bidders.
Lactose was the standout product, with a 6.7% increase, bringing its average price to €859/mt.
