FrieslandCampina to Divest Romanian Operations

Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. has reached an agreement to sell its Romanian operations, including the local brand Napolact and production facilities in Cluj-Napoca and Târgu Mureș, to Bonafarm Group. This move follows a strategic review of FrieslandCampina's activities in Romania, aligning with its strategy to focus on core markets and high value-added growth segments. Despite its leading position in Romania, the operations offered limited synergy with FrieslandCampina's European portfolio.
The sale includes FrieslandCampina's stake in the Romanian entity, which employs about 400 people. The transaction requires customary regulatory approvals, with completion expected by December 2025. According to FrieslandCampina Europe President Dustin Woodward, the decision was made in light of new growth opportunities for the business under a partner with a stronger regional presence
Bonafarm Group's CEO Attila Csányi emphasizes the strategic importance of dairy processing and plans to leverage local market expertise to build the Napolact brand further. The acquisition presents an opportunity to invest in facility capacity, maintain strong partnerships, and contribute to Romanian dairy industry development. Bonafarm Group is controlled by Hungarian businessman Sándor Csányi.
