Fonterra's New $150M Plant Is Hiring: What This Means
Fonterra is set to make a substantial impact on the international agribusiness landscape with its new UHT cream plant in Edendale, New Zealand. The $150 million facility is scheduled to open in 2026 and aims at bolstering the global dairy supply chain by initially providing 70 local jobs. As Andrew Johns, Fonterra’s lower South Island general manager, emphasizes, the market demand for UHT cream is projected to grow annually by 4% until 2032. This demand is driven by the 260 million cakes and 400 million beverages requiring UHT cream in China annually. The plant is strategically designed for scalability and efficiency, with an initial production capacity of 50 million liters of UHT cream per year, expected to expand to over 100 million liters by 2030. This expansion is pivotal for Fonterra's long-term strategic vision and highlights its commitment to capturing emerging consumer trends and demands in the dairy sector worldwide.
