Fonterra, a leader in the global dairy market, has released its projections for the upcoming milk production season.

According to the latest Global Dairy Update, the company forecasts that milk production will reach 1,458 million kilograms of milksolids for the new season, with an expected increase to 1,471 million kilograms in the 2023/24 season.
The report also detailed recent production trends, noting a year-over-year decrease of 4.0% in April milk collections. This decline concluded the season with a slight 0.4% drop fr om the previous year. The decrease was particularly sharp in the North Island, wh ere unfavorable weather conditions led to an 8.3% reduction in April's output, culminating in a 3.5% decline for the season. Conversely, the South Island experienced a 1.3% increase in April production due to favorable weather and increased feed use, resulting in a season-to-date production that is 4.0% higher than the previous year.
