The European Parliament has approved the introduction of tariffs on all agricultural imports from Russia

According to the European Parliament's explanation, the new tariffs will affect a range of agricultural products, including sugar, vinegar, flour, and animal feed. The tariffs are expected to increase to €430 per ton by 2028.
At the end of January, the European Commission had already approved an initiative to impose tariffs on certain agricultural products and fertilizers from Russia and Belarus. As a result of the implementation of this decision, all agricultural imports from Russia will be subject to EU tariffs. It is important to note, however, that these tariffs will not apply to Russian exports to third countries that transit through EU territory.
The European Commission emphasizes that the main goal of this decision is to reduce dependence on supplies from Russia and Belarus. The introduction of tariffs is also expected to boost domestic production and support the development of the EU fertilizer sector, which has been impacted by the energy crisis.
