Elmhurst 1925 Expands Into Alcohol With New Oat-Based Spritz Line
Elmhurst 1925, originally a dairy company, has continued its evolution by entering the alcohol market with a new line of oat-brewed spritzes. The company, which shifted its focus to plant-based milk in 2017, recently introduced its latest venture, Good Day, Darling, at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. The new line offers oat-brewed amber spritzes available in Blueberry Lemon and Strawberry Lychee flavors.
Each spritz contains 100 calories, is gluten-free and sugar-free, and features an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 4.1 percent. The drinks are described as 'bubbly' and 'slightly hazy.' According to Brewbound, Good Day, Darling aims to provide a 'better-for-you approach to beverage alcohol.'
This expansion is in line with Elmhurst's recent initiatives to offer healthier beverage options. In March, the company launched Clean Protein, a line of protein shakes made with clean ingredients, available in various flavors such as Sea Salt Chocolate and Pistachio Crème. Heba Mahmoud, Elmhurst's senior director of brand innovation, emphasized the company's commitment to high standards of plant-based nutrition.
Elmhurst's venture into oat-based alcohol is part of a broader trend. Oat farming is considered low-emission, beneficial for soil health, and water-efficient, making oat-based alcohol an attractive option for environmentally conscious consumers. Other brands are also exploring oat-based liqueurs, such as JetBlue, which partnered with Outrageous to offer oat milk cream liqueurs on its flights, and Scottish distillery Nc’nean, which launched Quiet Rebels, Sarah, an oat cream liqueur in 2025.
JetBlue's director of product, Sven Singh, highlighted the airline's commitment to offering unique and high-quality options to its customers, citing Oatrageous Oat Milk Liqueur as a fresh and fun product. Similarly, Baileys introduced oat-based nondairy liqueurs like Coffee Toffee and Cookies & Creamy, further indicating the growing interest in oat-based alcohol products.
