DMI Appoints Corey Scott as President and CEO
The board of directors of Dairy Management Inc. (DMI), a US-based organisation, has selected Corey Scott to become its third president and chief executive officer. She will succeed Barbara O’Brien, who plans to retire after the 2026 joint annual meeting of the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board, the National Milk Producers Federation and the United Dairy Industry Association.
The meeting is scheduled for October. O’Brien disclosed her retirement in March, following 25 years at DMI, including service as president and CEO since 2021. Scott’s appointment followed a succession exercise lasting several months and conducted by the DMI board.
In the role, Scott will supervise more than 150 employees at DMI and the National Dairy Council. Her responsibilities will cover work carried out for more than 23,000 dairy farmers and dairy importers who finance the dairy checkoff. She will also lead the Innovation Center for US Dairy as its president and CEO.
Scott joins DMI from Midwest Dairy, where she was president and CEO. In that position, she led the dairy checkoff in a 10-state area representing 41.8m consumers and more than 3,600 dairy-farming families. She joined Midwest Dairy in 2024 after working as vice-president of sales and marketing at Athian.
Before Athian, Scott held leadership positions at Land O’Lakes for more than 15 years. She said the dairy checkoff remained important for increasing demand for dairy products, engaging with current consumers and creating opportunities for a new generation of farmers and importers. Scott added that she would work with DMI’s board, employees, state and regional checkoff organisations and other partners.
