Danone Ireland Extends Partnership with FoodCloud to 2028
Danone Ireland has announced a two-year extension of its partnership with FoodCloud, now extending until 2028. Since the partnership began in 2023, 174 tonnes of surplus food have been redistributed, benefiting 685 community partners with nutritional guidance, including tailored recipes and educational webinars.
The renewed partnership aims to further develop the nutrition education programme and expand volunteer support. This collaboration combines FoodCloud’s redistribution network with Danone’s expertise in nutrition, helping community organisations provide more balanced, nutritious food to those they support.
According to FoodCloud’s research with its community partners, 85% reported increased access to nutritious food, and 77% saved money on food costs, which enabled them to expand their services. Over 80% of organisations agreed that the provision of surplus food helped them reach more people, acting as a ‘gateway’ for further engagement with community services.
The partnership's focus will be on deepening impact at a community level by enhancing the reach and accessibility of nutritional support. This includes evolving the education programme to address emerging needs and supporting organisations in maximizing the use of an increasingly diverse range of surplus food.
FoodCloud's director of development and innovation, Aoibheann O’Brien, highlighted the significant impact of the nutrition education programme, empowering community partners with the knowledge to maximize the nutritional value of surplus food. Danone Ireland's managing director, Killian Barry, expressed pride in the partnership, noting its positive impact on communities nationwide.
