Chile's Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) has approved three Bolivian dairy plants for exporting milk, marking a significant step forward for Bolivia's dairy sector.

In a notable development for Bolivia's dairy industry, Chile's Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero (SAG) has greenlighted the operation of three Bolivian milk processing facilities for export purposes. As announced by Juan Miguel Quiroz, director of Bolivia's Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Agropecuaria e Inocuidad Alimentaria (Senasag), the authorized plants include Pil Andina in Cochabamba, Pil Andina in Santa Cruz, and a plant owned by the Empresa Boliviana de Alimentos (EBA) located in Ivirgarzama, Cochabamba.
These facilities will now commence exports of UHT milk and milk powder to Chile, a move expected to bolster the Bolivian agro-industrial sector by diversifying markets and creating new export opportunities. However, EBA's plant in San Andrés de Beni must address pending issues within 60 days to qualify for export authorization. Similarly, EBA's Oruro plant failed to gain approval due to lack of technical experience in recent UHT milk production. This initiative is anticipated to significantly strengthen the position of Bolivian dairy producers in the competitive Chilean market.
