Carbery Group and Other Processors Announce December Milk Price Reductions

Carbery Group has announced a reduction in its average milk price for December, setting the new rate at 36.7c/L. This new price includes VAT, a 0.88c/L somatic cell count (SCC) bonus, and a FutureProof sustainability bonus of 1.25c/L. This adjustment marks a 2.5c/L decrease fr om the November price, excluding VAT.

A spokesperson for Carbery Group commented on the decision, noting, "The pressure on international dairy markets, driven by continued strong global milk supply, continues. Carbery remains committed to paying the best possible milk price based on market returns and we are closely observing market developments."

Other major processors have also announced their December milk prices. Dairygold confirmed that it has maintained its price at 36c/L, which includes sustainability and quality payments as well as VAT. Meanwhile, Kerry Dairy Ireland has set its milk price at 34.5c/L, marking a 3c/L reduction from November.

Lakeland Dairies has followed suit with a price adjustment for its milk suppliers. In the Republic of Ireland, it will pay 33.25c/L for December supplies, inclusive of a 0.5c/L Sustainability Incentive Payment. This represents a 3c/L reduction from the previous month. In Northern Ireland, Lakeland will pay 26.3p/L, down by 2.5p/L from November.

The recent changes in milk prices reflect prevailing challenges in the global dairy markets, wh ere strong milk supply has exerted downward pressure on prices. Processors are adjusting their rates to align with market conditions while considering sustainability incentives.
