British Dairy Exports Soar to £2.2 Billion Amidst Rising Asian Demand
British dairy exports have hit a record high of £2.2 billion in 2025, marking a significant 16.6% increase fr om the previous year. This growth is largely attributed to rising demand from Asian markets, wh ere exports rose by 14.2%, amounting to £152 million.
The increased demand in Asia has been a focal point for British exporters as they aim to counterbalance the challenges of volatile markets and rising production costs. The AHDB has been instrumental in promoting British dairy products by organizing trade shows and export missions across key Asian countries.
At the FHA Singapore event, AHDB led its largest ever stand, showcasing products such as cheese, butter, and ice cream. This initiative aimed to connect UK exporters with importers and retailers from Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
Following this showcase, a trade mission to Malaysia was conducted, involving six UK dairy companies. The mission included meetings with local buyers, retailer visits, and discussions centered around import requirements and market access.
Lucy Randolph, the AHDB Head of International Trade Development, emphasized the importance of maintaining a diversified range of export markets for the sustained growth of the UK's dairy sector. The AHDB's international trade program continues to support dairy and red meat exports through various overseas initiatives.
Looking ahead, the focus will shift towards Europe, which remains the largest export destination for UK dairy products.
