Belarus Aims for a Record: Milk Production to Exceed 9 Million Tons in 2025
According to official data, total milk production in 2024 reached 8.75 million tons, marking an increase of 425,000 tons compared to 2023. Agricultural enterprises accounted for 8.57 million tons, indicating stable growth in the sector.
"In 2025, agricultural organizations are tasked with reaching 9 million tons of production, while total output across all categories is expected to exceed this mark," stated Natalia Sonich, Head of the Livestock and Fisheries Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Belarus has outlined several measures to support this ambitious target:
✅ Sufficient feed reserves ensuring stable milk yields.
✅ A 5% year-on-year increase in daily milk production.
✅ Modernization of dairy farms: 75% of total production now comes from advanced dairy complexes.
As of 2024, Belarus had 3,200 dairy farms, with half of them classified as modern complexes. The country continues to phase out outdated facilities while implementing cutting-edge technologies in new enterprises. Despite these changes, the national cattle population remains stable at 1.4 million cows.
Belarus continues to solidify its position as one of the world’s largest dairy exporters. The country produces over 900 kg of milk per capita, with less than one-third consumed domestically. The remaining volume is exported, reinforcing its strong presence in international markets.
