Baja California Sur Dairy Production Reaches New Milestone with State Support
The dairy sector in Baja California Sur (BCS) has seen a significant boost, reaching a production level of 14,000 liters of milk per day. This achievement is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the state government, federal authorities, and local livestock associations.
Governor Víctor Castro Cosío announced that the goal is to increase production to 20,000 liters daily by the end of his administration, representing a projected growth of approximately 43%. This initiative is aimed at benefiting over 386 families in the Santo Domingo dairy basin.
To support this growth, the state government has invested over 30 million pesos in the dairy sector. These funds are directed towards improving infrastructure, increasing livestock numbers, and enhancing the productivity of dairy units.
The strategic plan for dairy production includes measures such as forage cultivation, better livestock management, and addressing adverse climatic conditions. This plan aims to strengthen the dairy supply chain in BCS and ensure a stable supply of milk.
The support from the state has been crucial in reviving production levels after periods of drought and livestock decline, ensuring that local producers can meet their production targets.
