Australia Introduces New Regulations for Dairy Exports

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines has issued a reminder to local dairy product exporters to be aware of Australia's updated rules for compliance and sustained market access. The advisory highlights changes made by Australia in November of the previous year to its import regulations for dairy.
According to the DTI, products with less than 10 percent dairy content no longer require approval from the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry. However, to ensure biosecurity compliance, a manufacturer's declaration or a food product label indicating that the dairy content is below 10 percent by dry weight (excluding added water) is now mandatory.
In 2022, the Philippines exported dairy products worth $56,000 to Australia, equivalent to approximately P3 million, according to the government agency. The update serves as a crucial notice for local exporters to adapt to the revised regulations and maintain a smooth flow of dairy exports to the Australian market.
