Armenian Food Safety Body Halts Vanand Kat Dairy Production
The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia has officially suspended the production of Vanand Kat dairy products in the Armavir region. This decision came after inspectors discovered numerous breaches of sanitary and hygienic regulations during a routine inspection.
The inspection highlighted several deficiencies in the production facilities. The design, construction, and layout of the facility failed to prevent contamination, condensation, and mold formation. Additionally, the floors in preparation and washing areas were in disrepair, and the walls were not made of waterproof materials, which are essential for maintaining hygiene standards.
The ceilings did not meet safety standards, as they posed risks of particle contamination and failed to minimize moisture condensation. Inspectors also noted that the door to the cheese brine area was made of moisture-absorbing materials, and there was a lack of locker room facilities for staff.
As a consequence of these findings, production at the facility has been halted. The director of Vanand Kat has received instructions to implement necessary changes to meet regulatory standards. A timeline has been established for addressing these violations, although specific dates were not disclosed.
The suspension underscores the importance of adhering to food safety regulations to ensure consumer protection and maintain product quality.
