Arla Foods Launches New Cottage Cheese Range to Attract Young Consumers
Arla Foods has entered the cottage cheese market with a new range designed to appeal to younger consumers seeking high-protein, low-fat dairy options. This move comes as cottage cheese experiences renewed popularity in the UK, driven by increased health awareness and trends such as GLP-1 medication usage.
According to Kantar data, one in four UK households currently purchases cottage cheese. Arla aims to attract new and lapsed shoppers by offering products that promise 'taste and trusted quality' to encourage trading up from private labels. The new range is versatile, suitable for meals and snacks like toast, bakes, sauces, or as a high-protein topping.
The range combines a light, spoonable texture with a 'clean and creamy' taste, appealing to young audiences engaged with social media recipe trends on platforms like TikTok. Stuart Ibberson, Arla's brand director, stated, "Cottage cheese is back on shoppers’ radar for good reasons – taste, versatility, and protein." He emphasized the potential for growth, noting that penetration is increasing, though the UK market still underperforms compared to other regions and adjacent dairy categories.
The new line is now available at selected UK retailers, offering Natural and Low Fat Natural varieties from January 5, 2026.
