Amul Dairy Reports Significant Growth with Rs 14,099 Crore Turnover
Amul Dairy, officially known as the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, recorded an impressive turnover of Rs 14,099 crore during the last financial year. This achievement marks a growth rate of 9.2% compared to the previous year, underscoring Amul Dairy's steady expansion in the competitive dairy market. The announcement was made during the 79th Annual General Meeting held in Anand.
The cooperative works with over seven lakh milk producers, with more than four lakh farmers supplying milk daily. Amul Dairy achieved an average daily milk procurement of 48.16 lakh kilograms, maintaining its position as a reliable institution driven by farmers.
In terms of financial benefits, Amul Dairy increased payments to farmers, reaching Rs 1,028 per kilogram of fat, a 9.39% rise from the previous year. Additionally, the cooperative provided insurance benefits worth over Rs 2 crore to families of more than 98 milk producers, highlighting its commitment to farmer welfare.
Amul Dairy also made strides in animal breeding and health. It utilized over 10 lakh doses of sex-sorted semen, the highest in India, and received an 'A' grade certification from the Government of India for its semen station. Furthermore, 3,894 embryo transfers resulted in the birth of 618 high milk-yielding calves.
The cooperative's veterinary services treated approximately 6.96 lakh animals through its 14 veterinary centers. Amul has also advanced in digital herd management by equipping over 2,000 cows with smart cow belts.
Amul expanded its milk procurement operations to new states including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Tamil Nadu, and began activities in Karnataka and Odisha. Infrastructure upgrades at Anand included the installation of new RO plants and automatic milk sampling facilities.
