Alexander Lukashenko Demands Reduction in Construction Costs for Dairy Complexes

The statement was made during a visit to the "Budki" dairy farm based at the "Krinichnaya" experimental facility. Evaluating the site, the head of state noted its high level of equipment but pointed out its excessive cost.

"This is a very expensive complex. We cannot build such ones everywhere. We need to strive to reduce costs," he stated, emphasizing the need to find solutions to decrease the capital intensity of the sector.

The farm was commissioned in 2024 and is designed for more than 3,100 heads, including 1,200 dairy cows. Currently, the facility houses 927 heads, of which 600 are dairy herds. Once full capacity is reached, it is planned to produce up to 40 tons of milk per day.

Regional authorities have already begun adjusting their approaches to construction. According to Ivan Krupko, chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, new projects are being optimized by eliminating excessive elements and revising construction solutions. In particular, the share of cheaper and more practical materials is increasing.

Lukashenko specifically emphasized that even with private investment, the state has the right to demand efficiency, as agriculture remains a subsidized sector. According to him, excessive costs reduce opportunities for other investment projects.

Additional attention is being paid to the infrastructure for raising young stock. The region plans to build 160 prophylactic facilities for 26,000 calves. The head of state emphasized that reducing mortality depends not only on veterinary services but also on the organization of processes and conditions for keeping animals.

Among the priorities, broader use of wood in construction while adhering to technological requirements has also been identified, which should further reduce the cost of facilities.
