Chadwicks Unveils Resealable Lids at Packaging Innovations 2025

Visitors to stand R34 at the Packaging Innovations show in Birmingham on February 12-13, 2025, will witness groundbreaking products by Chadwicks, a UK-based pioneer in heat-seal pre-cut lids. Notably, the company is introducing rPET pre-cut lidding film, integrating up to 50% post-consumer resin (PCR), certified safe for direct food contact.

"We are committed to reducing our reliance on virgin plastics and embedding more responsible practices across our business," comments Paul Whelan, chief technical officer at Chadwicks. The innovative rPET lids mirror the technical properties of virgin PET while achieving a reduced carbon footprint and incorporating substantial recycled content, aligning with sustainable operational standards.

In addition to their rPET offerings, Chadwicks is revolutionizing packaging with a new resealable pre-cut lid. By doing away with plastic over-caps, these lids extend product freshness and reduce overall plastic use.

Chadwicks will also present their aluminium pre-cut lidding, adaptable for sealing various container materials including PP, PET, Paper PE, and glass. Renowned for superior barrier qualities against light, moisture, and oxygen, these aluminium lids extend the shelf life and preserve product integrity. Fully recyclable, they support sustainability while ensuring compatibility with high-speed manufacturing and diverse heat-sealing operations.

The versatility of aluminium lidding is further highlighted in its application to hot fill processes and goods necessitating pasteurisation or sterilisation, ensuring reliability for broad-ranging uses.
