Yester Farm Dairies Expands Cottage Cheese Reach in Scotmid Stores
Yester Farm Dairies, a family-run dairy farm in East Lothian, Scotland, has achieved a significant milestone by expanding its cottage cheese distribution across 120 Scotmid stores in Scotland. The farm, operated by Simon and Jackie McCreery, has been recognized in Scotmid's Scottish Favourites initiative, which supports local producers.
The farm's 'field to fridge' approach ensures that the milk from their herd of over 350 cows is processed and ready for retail within two days, enhancing product freshness and traceability. This method helps reduce food miles and sets Yester Farm Dairies apart in the Scottish market.
Yester Farm Dairies began pasteurizing milk in 2003 and expanded into cheese and yogurt production in 2015. Their products, including cottage cheese and soft cheese, are now priced at £1.79 and £2.19 per 300g, respectively, in Scotmid stores.
Simon McCreery expressed pride in the accomplishment, stating, "We’re incredibly proud to have won a Scottish Favourites place and to now be launching into Scotmid stores across Scotland. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us."
Scotmid's local sourcing manager, Steve Addison, emphasized the importance of supporting local producers like Yester Farm Dairies, which strengthens local supply chains and offers customers high-quality, locally-produced options.
