Yakult Honsha Co. has announced plans to shutter its Shanghai manufacturing facility as part of a broader restructuring strategy aimed at enhancing competitiveness and securing sustainable growth in China’s dynamic market.
The closure involves dissolving Shanghai Yakult, a subsidiary of Yakult China, and transferring sales operations to a newly established branch in Shanghai. The revamped structure will centralize sales efforts through supermarkets, retail outlets, and Yakult’s iconic home-delivery service by "Yakult Ladies."
Production previously managed at the Shanghai plant will be consolidated at the company’s Wuxi and Tianjin facilities. Yakult stated that the move would “improve management efficiency” by streamlining operations and optimizing resource allocation.
