WAMUL Partners with NDDB to Double Dairy Production in Assam

The West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd (WAMUL), known for its brand Purabi Dairy, has announced a strategic partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) aimed at significantly increasing its production capabilities.
The partnership agreement, formalized at the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' business summit, seeks to enhance the Guwahati-based dairy producer's daily output to 3 lakh litres, doubling its current capacity of 1.5 lakh litres per day (LLPD). This initiative reflects a planned investment of Rs 100 crore, which is set to upgrade Purabi Dairy's Panjabari plant.
In addition to the boost in milk production, the expansion includes increasing the fermented milk product capacity from 20 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) to 50 MTPD, as well as establishing a new ice cream plant with a capacity of 20 TLPD.
According to a statement from WAMUL, this expansion will enhance the supply chain and offer better returns to dairy farmers through the development of value-added products. This move follows WAMUL's agreement with the Assam government in July of the previous year to operate a 5,000-litre capacity plant in Dhemaji district.
