According to Animal's Health, the Central Veterinary Laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5 virus in samples obtained fr om the flock. Results on pathogenicity are still pending. A quarantine has been imposed within a 10 km radius of the farm, the birds have been isolated, and culling is underway.

The new outbreak is located just 20 km from a farm wh ere an H5N1 outbreak with a similar bird count was detected a week earlier. Epidemiological links between the two cases have not yet been confirmed.

The previous outbreak in Huelva, registered on September 4th, was accompanied by a sharp increase in bird mortality over two days. Experts consider contact with migratory birds a likely cause of virus spread.

The situation in Spain remains tense: currently, four H5N1 outbreaks have been confirmed among domestic poultry (in Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, and Andalusia), as well as 31 among wild birds.
