The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus has approved a new version of the veterinary and sanitary rules for organizations involved in the production, storage, and sale of dairy products. The relevant decree No. 81 dated September 11, 2025, has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal.
Veterinary and Sanitary Rules for Dairy Producers Updated in Belarus

The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food explained that the document sets unified requirements for veterinary and sanitary safety at all stages of the production chain—from the acceptance of raw milk to the release of finished products.

Excessive requirements not related to veterinary matters have been removed from the rules, and provisions concerning the following have been updated:

  • production control of raw materials and finished products;

  • conditions of technological processes;

  • quality of water, auxiliary materials, and packaging used;

  • hygiene of personnel and ventilation in enterprises.

"The development of the new rules took into account the recommendations of supervisory authorities from countries importing Belarusian dairy products, as expressed during audits," the ministry clarified.

An important part of the updates includes requirements for the cleaning and disinfection of equipment, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of these processes. This is aimed at ensuring a stable level of product safety and reducing the risk of contamination in production.

The new version of the document is aligned with the Law on Veterinary Activities and the Ministry of Health decree No. 121 dated September 29, 2025, which regulates sanitary standards for the food industry.

With the adoption of the decree, the previous veterinary and sanitary rules for dairy processing enterprises, including ice cream and baby food manufacturers, are repealed.

"The new version of the rules will enhance the competitiveness and export potential of Belarusian dairy processing enterprises and will also ensure stable product quality," the Ministry of Agriculture and Food emphasized.
