In the first five months of 2025, Uruguay's dairy export revenues reached $358 million, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year.

Uruguay's dairy sector has seen significant shifts in its export landscape. The overall revenue from dairy exports grew by 10% year-on-year, totaling $358 million by May 2025. This growth is predominantly attributed to milk powder exports, which brought in $238 million, a 17% increase.
However, cheese exports witnessed a substantial decline, with a 26% decrease in volume, resulting in only $40 million in revenue, down by 25%. Factors contributing to this trend include a notable drop in the volume of cheese shipments to 8,023 tons between January and May.
Meanwhile, other dairy products such as butter and skimmed milk powder also saw increases, with butter revenue rising by 24% to $28 million and skimmed milk powder by 7% to $22 million. These statistics highlight the diversification in Uruguay's dairy exports and the changing demands in international markets.
