The UK Dairy Carbon Network is inviting farms to join its initiative aimed at reducing emissions in the dairy sector.

A new initiative by the UK Dairy Carbon Network, led by AHDB and AgriSearch, is actively searching for dairy farms to participate in a project aimed at implementing practical solutions to slash greenhouse gas emissions. Funded by Defra, the project seeks dairy farms from three regional networks, specifically in North-West England, South and South-West England, and Cumbria and South-West Scotland, for a three-year collaboration period. Applications remain open until April 14, though Northern Ireland's participation window has closed.
Professor Steven Morrison, leading the project, emphasized the objective of translating research findings into real-world farming practices to measure and achieve significant emission reductions. He noted that interest from over 50 organizations has bolstered the initiative, showcasing widespread industry support. Participants in the project will gain tailored action plans, personal support, and financial assistance, while engaging in networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
The initiative ultimately aims to guide farmers toward sustainable decision-making, fostering a greener future for the UK's dairy industry. As stated by Professor Morrison, the project's findings will inform future policy-making, industry standards, and serve as a testimony to other farmers about effective carbon mitigation strategies.
