UK Dairy: £25M Plant to Process 900M Pints Annually
Freshways, the UK's leading independent dairy supplier, is nearing the completion of a cutting-edge milk and dairy processing facility in West Bromwich. This £25 million project is part of the Mayor's Growth Plan for the West Midlands and aims to pasteurize and package nearly 900 million pints of fresh milk per year, enough to fill 200 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Production is set to begin by the end of the year.
The investment is expected to generate 200 jobs initially, with potential for further growth. The company has committed to local recruitment, targeting young people as part of the Mayor's Youth Employment Plan. Job opportunities will span engineering, quality assurance, food safety, logistics, and support services.
This project marks a significant global partnership in dairy manufacturing, with specialist machinery sourced from IDMC in India. This collaboration follows a free trade agreement between the UK and India, showcasing the role of international cooperation in modern industry advancements.
