Tetra Pak appoints Michael Wu as Oceania managing director

Tetra Pak has named Michael Wu managing director for Oceania. Before taking up the position, Wu held the equivalent role across Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia. His responsibilities in those markets included expanding commercial activities, updating supply chains for processing equipment and directing customer-development programmes tailored to local markets.

Wu brings more than 18 years of executive experience from Tetra Pak’s global network to the new assignment. His previous work across multiple national markets involved commercial and operational responsibilities spanning Southeast Asia. The appointment places him in charge of the company’s activities in a region whose primary processors trade with export destinations elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific area.

In comments on the appointment, Wu described the food industries of Australia and New Zealand as agile and technologically advanced. He said processors in the region must respond to changes in consumer purchasing preferences while also advancing sustainability efforts. He identified those requirements alongside the continued need to maintain food-safety standards and efficient operations on high-volume commercial processing lines.

Tetra Pak Oceania supplies technology to dairy and beverage processors in the region. Its portfolio includes aseptic carton packaging, ultra-high-temperature processing infrastructure, cheese-making systems and automation for factories. These products and systems form part of the company’s role in the regional processing ecosystem, according to the information accompanying the appointment.

Wu said Tetra Pak would place greater emphasis on working with customers on innovation. The areas he identified include packaging with lower carbon impacts, improved recyclability for cartons, data-based predictive maintenance and greater efficiency in processing operations. The company’s stated focus therefore covers both packaging development and the management of equipment and production processes.
