Study: replacing dairy with plant-based alternatives could lower nutrient intake

Researchers at the University of Surrey and Queen’s University Belfast modelled dietary changes involving alternatives to dairy products.

The substitutions covered milk, yoghurt and cheese. The researchers found that even limited changes could lower intake of iodine, calcium and vitamins B2 and B12.

Professor Tom Sanders questioned the reliability of using dietary intake records to predict iodine deficiency.
