Somerdale International Expands Logistics and Export Capabilities

Somerdale International, a key exporter of British and Irish cheese to over 50 countries, has completed a substantial investment in its logistics and export capabilities. The company has expanded its cold storage warehousing and distribution hub, and introduced a new, fully integrated supply chain management system at its headquarters in Wellington, UK.

This development includes the addition of two state-of-the-art cold store facilities, supplementing the existing three stores. This enhancement has increased the overall cold storage capacity by approximately 30%, now accommodating racking for 250 pallets of cheese.

In parallel, Somerdale has implemented an enterprise-wide warehouse and supply chain management system, aimed at improving customer service levels. Di Henderson, Somerdale International’s general manager, described the expansion as a significant milestone, enhancing both the company's export capacity and capabilities.

According to Henderson, the investment is crucial for reinforcing Somerdale's position as a leading exporter of British cheese and dairy products globally. It aligns with the company's ambitious growth objectives and future plans.
