Sanitary Irregularities Lead to Ban on Argentine Cheese in Entre Ríos
The Directorate of Bromatology in Concordia announced a prohibition on the production, transportation, and sale of a pategrás cheese in the province of Entre Ríos after finding irregularities in its registration status. The decision was based on a resolution from the Institute of Food and Bromatology Control (ICAB) of Entre Ríos.
The affected product is 'Queso Pategrás Argentino,' sold under the brand 2L and produced in Colonia La Paz, Federation department. It was found that the cheese was marketed with an expired National Establishment Registry (RNE) number 08002454 and lacked a valid National Food Product Registry (RNPA).
As a result, the provincial body decided to prohibit its production, fractioning, transport, sale, and offering, including through online platforms, throughout Entre Ríos. Authorities have urged distributors, sellers, and consumers to refrain from engaging in any commercial activity with the product.
Officials have requested that any detection of the cheese at sales points be reported to the relevant bromatological bodies to facilitate oversight and removal from the market. This measure is part of ongoing sanitary controls aimed at ensuring the traceability, safety, and legality of food products sold within the country.
