Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari raises concerns over the Sanchi brand's decline post its merger with the National Dairy Development Board.

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari has expressed his concerns to Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah about the decline of the 'Sanchi' dairy brand following its merger with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Patwari claims the merger has not benefited consumers or farmers, as evidenced by the reduction in milk collection and sales.
Milk collection from Indore reportedly decreased from 94,496 kilograms in 2023-24 to 85,438 kilograms in 2024-25. Patwari wrote that while the merger promised to increase Madhya Pradesh's share in India's overall milk production, the reality has been contrary with a marked decline in both collection and sales.
He urged Minister Shah to devise strategies to rejuvenate the brand and protect farmers from the adverse effects of governmental neglect, suggesting actions such as forming an independent panel to examine the current state of the MP Milk Federation and addressing pending 'Sanchi Parlour' applications. Additionally, he accused the state government of promoting private brands at the expense of 'Sanchi', leading to economic distress for farmers who rely on fair compensation for their milk.
