Royal A-ware Acquires 35% Stake in Dutch Cheese Maker Amalthea
Royal A-ware, a prominent player in the dairy industry in the Netherlands, has expanded its portfolio by acquiring a 35% stake in Amalthea. Amalthea is a well-known producer of both goat cheese and organic cow cheese, headquartered in the Netherlands. This strategic acquisition allows Royal A-ware to enhance its footprint in the cheese market.
The remaining 65% stake in Amalthea is held by Ausnutria, a Chinese fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company. Ausnutria retains its focus on the valorisation of high-quality whey proteins, a crucial component in dairy production.
This acquisition by Royal A-ware is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its market position. Six months prior, the company acquired Global Dairy Ventures, a Spanish dairy distributor, marking a pattern of strategic investments in the dairy sector.
Royal A-ware's involvement as a minority stakeholder will be focused on the commercialisation efforts for Amalthea's goat cheese and organic cow cheese, both in domestic and international markets. This aligns with the company's ongoing strategy to diversify its product offerings and expand its reach within the dairy industry.
The collaboration between Royal A-ware and Ausnutria underscores a strategic partnership aimed at leveraging each company's strengths. While Royal A-ware concentrates on commercial aspects, Ausnutria will continue to focus on its expertise in whey protein products.
