Alexey Egermin, co-chairman of the National Union for Consumer Rights Protection, proposed a legislative initiative aimed at standardizing milk packaging up to one liter. According to Egermin, existing marketing strategies that may create the illusion of reduced product cost are a form of consumer deception.

Alexey Egermin emphasized that the product's cost should be understandable and easily comparable, for example, when recalculated per kilogram or liter, regardless of the actual packaging volume.

The official noted that legislation often lags behind rapidly changing marketing practices, which, while giving businesses freedom of action, do not always meet the interests of society. He also mentioned that a similar problem exists internationally, but in countries like the United Kingdom, packaging standardization is used to combat this phenomenon, such as a mandatory liter for milk bottles and 200 grams for butter packs.

"Such practice could also help Russian consumers," Alexey Egermin emphasized.
