Purabi Dairy Expands Product Line with Traditional Mithai Launch
Purabi Dairy has introduced its inaugural range of traditional sweets, Purabi Kalakand and Purabi Milk Cake, in conjunction with National Milk Day celebrations. These products will be available at Purabi Parlour Panjabari, all Purabi Milk Booths, and selected grocery outlets in Guwahati. The launch signifies a strategic move by the cooperative to diversify its offerings and enhance its value-added product line.
Manufactured by the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL) and marketed by the North East Dairy and Food Limited (NEDFL), the sweets mark a significant step in the cooperative's ongoing efforts to expand its market presence. According to NEDFL Managing Director Satya Brata Bose, this launch reaffirms Purabi's commitment to delivering fresh and hygienic dairy products. WAMUL's MD, Sameer Kumar Parida, highlighted that the new product line is expected to boost milk procurement, thereby supporting rural producers economically.
At the state-level National Milk Day event, the Assam government recognized five Purabi farmers for their contributions to the dairy sector, highlighting the cooperative's role in regional development. The event saw participation from nearly 60 Purabi farmers, emphasizing the cooperative's focus on farmer training and development, modernizing processing infrastructure, and expanding retail channels.
The introduction of Purabi Mithai is part of a broader initiative to build a more resilient dairy ecosystem in Assam. By diversifying its product basket, Purabi Dairy aims to enhance farmer livelihoods, supporting sustainable growth in the region's dairy industry.
