Purabi Dairy, operating under the commercial name of the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited, is a prominent entity in Assam, India’s dairy market. With substantial growth and operational expansion, it has firmly established its market presence.

Location and Facilities

Based in Assam, Purabi Dairy processes approximately 150,000 litres of milk daily at its automated plant in Guwahati. It also operates a manufacturing unit in Changsari, capable of producing 50 metric tonnes of cattle feed per day.

Financial Indicators

The financial performance of Purabi Dairy is noteworthy, with a turnover reaching ₹400 crore. This marks a 33% increase in revenue, attributed to enhanced farmer income and an expanded dairy supply chain.

Significant Events

Purabi Dairy has implemented modern dairy processing technologies and expanded its distribution network. A significant development is the opening of a new Milk Booth at Adabari Atal Udyan in collaboration with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), enhancing consumer access to dairy products.

Additionally, Purabi Dairy has introduced a line of traditional Indian sweets, Purabi Mithai, which includes products like Kalakand and Milk Cake. These are manufactured by the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL) and marketed by the North East Dairy and Food Limited (NEDFL).

Purabi Dairy has shipped its first export consignment of ice cream to Bhutan, with the ice cream manufactured by WAMUL and marketed by NEDFL.
