Purabi Dairy Unveils Premium Cattle Feed to Boost Milk Production in India

The West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited, known commercially as Purabi Dairy, has introduced a new cattle feed named 'Purabi Dana Supreme'. This product aims to enhance milk production across Northeast India, especially benefiting 60,000 cooperative farming families. The feed, launched under the Purabi Pashu Pushti division, complies with the Bureau of Indian Standards Type-I quality benchmarks.

Purabi Dana Supreme is designed specifically for high-yielding dairy cattle such as Holstein Friesian, Jersey, and exotic Gir crossbreds. Its formulation includes elevated levels of crude protein and fat, along with essential vitamins and minerals to improve dairy cattle health and milk yield.

To facilitate widespread adoption, WAMUL has introduced a subsidy system making the feed more affordable for registered cooperative farmers. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce input costs that challenge smallholders. Additionally, a free Animal Health Check-up Camp was organized, where veterinary experts provided medicines and herd-management advice to local farmers.

WAMUL operates under the National Dairy Development Board and processes approximately 150,000 litres of milk daily at its automated Guwahati plant. Its Changsari-based manufacturing unit can produce 50 metric tonnes of cattle feed per day, along with a dedicated bypass protein processing plant and a mineral mixture unit, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality feed.

This strategic rollout highlights WAMUL's robust supply-chain capabilities and its role in supporting rural livelihoods. By adopting scientific feeding practices, Purabi Dairy aims to transition regional farmers from traditional methods to more efficient, data-driven approaches, enhancing overall milk supply and quality.
