Punjab and FrieslandCampina Collaborate on Dairy Sector Skills

Punjab has initiated a partnership with FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEPL) to improve workforce skills and build capacity in the dairy and agriculture sectors. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) and FCEPL, facilitated by the Pakistan-Netherlands Dairy Development Centre (PNDDC).

The agreement was signed by Ahmed Khan, CEO of PSDF, and Syed Saud Ahmad Pasha, Director Dairy Development for FrieslandCampina in the Middle East, Pakistan, and Africa. The MoU aims to introduce training programs focused on climate-smart agriculture and dairy skills, benefiting farmers, supply chain intermediaries, and other stakeholders in Punjab through both in-person and digital platforms.

PSDF will provide technical support in developing competency-based training, including curriculum development and quality assurance. FrieslandCampina will share its international expertise and research to enhance knowledge sharing and technical assistance. This initiative aligns with PSDF's strategy to prepare a workforce for the green economy, promoting sustainable farming practices and improving technical skills.

Ahmed Khan highlighted the significant potential for growth in Pakistan's dairy and agriculture sectors, emphasizing the importance of developing a workforce with internationally recognized skills to succeed in a climate-resilient economy. Syed Saud Ahmad Pasha expressed FrieslandCampina's commitment to integrating Dutch dairy expertise with Pakistan's agricultural potential to develop a skilled workforce.

The partnership is expected to encourage the adoption of global best practices and create better livelihood opportunities across Punjab, while also expanding export potential.
