Butter Production in Russia Increases by 2.3% Over 11 Months
Growth has also been observed in other segments of dairy processing. The production of cottage cheese increased by 2.7% during the reporting period, reaching 455 thousand tons, while cheese production grew by 1.2% to 795 thousand tons. Production of drinking milk (excluding raw) increased by 0.6%, totaling 5.6 million tons. Meanwhile, the production of fermented dairy products decreased by 1.2% to 2 million tons.
In the meat sector, dynamics remain restrained. Production of beef, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat, and meat from other equine animals, including venison, rose by 0.1% in January–November, reaching 3.5 million tons. The production of poultry meat and edible by-products increased by 2%, reaching 4.9 million tons. The production of meat and meat-containing semi-finished products increased by 0.6%, totaling 4.5 million tons.
Among fat and oil products, margarine showed growth, with its production increasing by 3.8% to 429 thousand tons. However, the production of sunflower oil and its unrefined fractions decreased by 14.1% to 6.4 million tons.
Negative dynamics were also recorded in several basic food categories. Production of wheat and wheat-rye flour decreased by 5.1% to 8 million tons, cereals by 5.5% to 1.7 million tons, and white beet sugar in solid form without flavoring and coloring additives by 6.7% to 5.4 million tons.
Overall, the production of food products in Russia decreased by 0.7% in January–November 2025 compared to the same period last year. In November, production declined by 1.6% year-on-year and by 5.6% compared to October 2025, indicating continued pressure on the processing sector at the end of the year.
