Starbucks' Profit in Q1 of FY 2026 Drops Nearly Threefold

The American company Starbucks, operating the world's largest coffeehouse chain, significantly reduced its net profit in the first quarter of FY 2026, which ended on December 28. However, it managed to report revenue exceeding analysts' forecasts.

According to the company's report, Starbucks' net profit for the reporting period amounted to $293.3 million, or 26 cents per share, compared to $780.8 million, or 69 cents per share, a year earlier. Thus, the profit decreased by nearly 2.7 times. Adjusted earnings were 56 cents per share.

The company's revenue grew by 6% to $9.92 billion, surpassing market expectations. Analysts polled by LSEG had forecasted revenue at $9.67 billion and earnings at 59 cents per share.

Global comparable sales at Starbucks increased by 4%, significantly exceeding the consensus forecast of a 2.3% growth. The number of transactions grew by 3%, and the average ticket by 1%, indicating a recovery in customer activity in key markets.

During the first fiscal quarter, the Starbucks network expanded by 128 coffeehouses, bringing the total number of establishments worldwide to 41,118. Of these, 16,911 operate in the USA and 8,011 in China, which remains the company's second most important market.

Starbucks' board of directors approved a dividend of 62 cents per share, up from last year's 61 cents. The dividend is scheduled to be paid on February 27, with the record date set for February 13.

The company's management expects adjusted earnings for FY 2026 to be $2.15–2.40 per share, with global comparable sales growth not falling below 3%.

Starbucks' market capitalization increased by 13.7% over the past three months, reaching $108.84 billion, significantly outperforming the Nasdaq Composite Index, which rose by 2.5% over the same period.
