Premier Select Sires Teams Up with Native Microbials to Enhance Dairy Cow Performance

The recent partnership between Premier Select Sires and Native Microbials marks a significant step forward in dairy cow management. Premier Select Sires, a reputable farmer-owned cooperative known for its commitment to advanced genetics, will now distribute Galaxis™ Frontier, a pioneering rumen genomics product by Native Microbials, across the Eastern U.S.
Galaxis Frontier, noted for being the only rumen microbial consortia with four native-rumen species, offers dairy producers the opportunity to enhance herd health and production. Farmers have reported benefits such as increased colostrum yield and improved feed efficiency, all thanks to the enhanced genetics in the cow's rumen. Remarkably, research highlights improvements in immune function and mammary development, promising a healthier and more productive herd.
The move signals a shift towards emphasizing rumen genetics over traditional bovine genome focus, an approach championed by Premier Select Sires' Vice President of Marketing and Development, Kirk Sattazahn. "The rumen is the power unit of the cow," he stated, emphasizing the importance of targeting genetic improvements directly at the source of cow health and productivity.
Moreover, Michael Seely, CEO of Native Microbials, lauds the collaboration as an innovative leap in microbial genomics, a field integral to their mission. With plans to launch in September 2025, Galaxis Frontier is set to reshape the landscape of dairy farming in the Eastern U.S., leveraging Native Microbial’s advanced research to bolster cow production capabilities.
The partnership is poised to transform how genetic technologies are applied in the dairy industry, reinforcing Premier Select Sires' legacy in genetic improvement and empowering farmers with cutting-edge tools for sustainable livestock management.
