The total cattle population in CIS countries as of July 1, 2025, amounted to 51.97 million, which is 0.4% higher than the figures for the same period last year, according to official statistical data.

  • Russia maintained its leadership in herd size with 16.94 million heads, although this figure decreased by 4.1% year over year.

  • Uzbekistan ranked second with 14.05 million heads (+2%).

  • Kazakhstan showed the most significant growth: 8.83 million heads (+8.3%).

Several countries recorded a decrease in cattle numbers:

  • Belarus — 4.05 million heads (–2.6%),

  • Armenia — 648 thousand (–1.7%),

  • Moldova — 99 thousand (–3%).
