On Monday, CCM Skipton hosted its July dairy-bred rearing calf show, where GP Pickersgill & Sons from Intake Side Farm, Hawksworth, secured their first-ever title. Their Limousin-x bull calf, born on May 26 and shown by Andrew Pickersgill, claimed the overall champion title, judged by Tony Binns of Clint, Harrogate. The calf, sired by Cornfield Ollie out of a British Friesian dairy cow, fetched £530 from Calderdale mart regular Brian Lund, Walshaw, Hebden Bridge, who plans to rear the calf to beef before resale.
