Peru Hosts Fourth Edition of National Cheese Fair in 2026
The Fourth Salón del Queso Peruano is set to take place at the Centro de Convenciones Lima from May 21 to 24, 2026. The event will showcase 200 exhibition stands, marking a 48% increase from the previous year's 135 stands. This growth is driven by rising domestic demand for high-quality matured and artisanal cheeses.
The dairy sector in Peru supports over 350,000 rural families, primarily in the central and southern highlands. The event, organized by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) in collaboration with the NGO CEDEPAS Norte, also enjoys political backing from the regional governments of Arequipa and Cajamarca, which are key regions for cheese production.
The event features a comprehensive agenda, including a business roundtable and technical talks that connect small producers with large supermarket chains, distributors, hotels, and the gastronomy sector. Additionally, the National Cheese Competition, scheduled for May 22, will gather 90 pre-qualified producers from across Peru. A panel of experts will evaluate the cheeses based on sensory, physicochemical, and presentation criteria.
Participants can also attend workshops on cheese tasting, live culinary demonstrations, and pairing sessions that highlight the unique terroir and identity of high-altitude cheeses.
The event will run daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and tickets are available through the Joinnus platform.
