PepsiCo Embraces 'Hecho en México' Label for 200 Products

PepsiCo México has officially been awarded the 'Hecho en México' seal for more than 200 of its products, including well-known brands such as Sabritas, Doritos, Quaker, and Mafer. This recognition by the Secretaría de Economía was announced during an official ceremony at PepsiCo's CDAS in Toluca. The seal indicates that at least 50% of the content in these products originates from Mexico.

The company has also announced a substantial investment of 106 million dollars aimed at enhancing its infrastructure in the agro-industry, distribution centers, and electric fleet. This investment in the State of Mexico aims to improve operational capabilities, upgrade systems, and expand logistics with sustainable vehicles.

The 'Hecho en México' seal reinforces PepsiCo's commitment to national product traceability and supply chain integration. The label promotes a network of suppliers aligned with origin standards, from a potato germplasm bank to local supplier integration.

The movement towards local valorization is also visible among national brands like Alpura, which have held the label since May. This emblem provides additional opportunities as consumers show willingness to pay a premium for quality and responsible products.

In response to the growing demand for sustainable and certified origin products, 75% of Mexican consumers are reportedly open to paying up to 10% extra for environmentally responsible national products. PepsiCo positions itself as a strategic player boosting the agro-industry and addressing trends in conscious consumption.
