In a strategic move coinciding with St David's Day, Pembrokeshire Creamery, poised to commence operations this spring, has introduced its maiden milk pricing. Utilizing the widely recognized Liquid Standard Litre metric, the company has disclosed a competitive April milk price of 38.5 pence per litre.
Distinguished as the sole liquid milk bottling facility in Wales authorized to supply Welsh supermarkets, Pembrokeshire Creamery secured a development plot at Pembrokeshire Food Park last year. The establishment of this facility brought forth a noteworthy £17 million investment, alongside the commitment to generate 80 new jobs over the upcoming three years.
Aiming to curtail the necessity of transporting milk to England for processing, the creamery asserts that this strategy will substantially diminish food miles and optimize the supply chain. This enhanced efficiency positions the company to extend a competitive milk price to farmers who have already committed, as well as those monitoring the project's evolution, starting from April 2024.
