Pembrokeshire Creamery Seeks More Dairy Farmers as It Plans to Double Processing Capacity
Mark McQuade, Managing Director of Pembrokeshire Creamery, expressed satisfaction with the current interest from dairy farmers but noted that there is still some processing capacity available. The creamery plans to leverage the upcoming Pembrokeshire County Show, scheduled for August 14-15, to secure additional milk supplies. “Our goal is to support local farming communities and source as much of our milk as possible from local suppliers,” said McQuade.
The £20 million creamery, which began processing milk in May, is notable for being the only liquid dairy facility in Wales certified by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standards. This certification allows the creamery to supply major retailers with Welsh milk.
Pembrokeshire Creamery has already secured significant contracts to provide own-branded milk to Asda and Lidl stores across Wales. Additionally, it has launched its own milk brand, Blas y Tir, meaning “taste of the land” in Welsh, which is managed by its sister company, Puffin Produce.
