Organic milk production in the UK averaged 1.1 million liters per day in May 2024, down 10% compared to the same period last year. The decline is attributed to the reduced purchasing power of the population, forced to economize on food due to the rising cost of living.

Many farmers in the UK have abandoned organic production in favor of traditional agriculture.

Although the price premium for environmentally friendly agricultural products persists in the European market, it is no longer sufficient to justify the costs of complying with stringent organic standards.

Earlier reports indicated that nearly 1,000 organic farms in Austria switched to conventional production at the beginning of 2024, accounting for 4% of all organic farms in the country. This shift was driven by rising operational costs and declining purchase prices for organic products. Austria, a leader in the EU for organic farming development, has 27% of its arable land under organic cultivation, compared to the EU average of 10%. However, sales of organic products in Austria fell by 2.8% in 2023 compared to 2022, jeopardizing the government's goal of increasing the share of organic land to 30% by 2027.

The European Union remains the primary market for organic agricultural products from Kazakhstan. In 2023, Kazakhstan exported over 10,000 tons of organic flax, 11,800 tons of organic soybean meal, 2,500 tons of organic soybeans, more than 600 tons of organic wheat, and several other types of products to the EU.

These changes in the production and demand for organic products in Europe may affect Kazakh exporters who are oriented towards the EU market.
